My Summer Reading List #1

Wednesday, June 03, 2015

I always tend to read a lot of books in the warmer months, particularly when school is over, which is probably due to having less homework and school-related tasks to carry out. Since summer is quickly approaching us, I thought I'd share with you three books that I really want to read, so I hope you like this post!

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
"In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters, but that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends. With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart."
The first book on the list is Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, which is the second book in the Infernal Devices trilogy. Every other Cassandra Clare book that I've read was an amazing read and was thoroughly enjoyable, especially the Mortal Instruments series which has the same theme and concept as this book. I love the whole idea of Shadowhunters and the inclusion of angels, warlocks and demons in these books, all of which are full of action, adventure, romance, and fantasy. I've been wanting to read this book for a year but found myself putting it off due to the size. However, I'm determined to read it and possibly finish the series this summer.

Storm and Stone by Joss Stirling
"Behind the ivy-clad walls of an exclusive boarding school, lurks a sinister web of corruption, scandal, and conspiracy. American student Raven Stone has noticed something is horribly wrong. First there were the unexplained disappearances. Then there were the teachers' lies. And now the death threats ...Also entangled in the disturbing turn of events is the enigmatic Kieran Storm. He's heading for trouble and taking her with him. Raven can feel herself falling in love, but can she trust a boy she knows almost nothing about?"
The next book is one that I've been excited to read for quite some time now, and it is Storm and Stone by Joss Stirling. I read one of her other books, Finding Sky, and I found it very interesting and fell in love with her style of writing and the themes in the story, finding it similar to something I'd write myself. This book definitely sounds more mature and like a contemporary novel, yet it is described to have paranormal and urban fantasy elements in it, which are hopefully apparent. As a whole, I'm looking forward to reading this book and seeing how Finding Sky compares to her newer novel.

Switched by Amanda Hocking
"When Wendy Everly was six years old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn't until eleven years later that Wendy finds out her mother might've been telling the truth. With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world that she never knew existed - and it's one she's not sure if she wants a part of."
The final book that I'll be talking about today is Switched by Amanda Hocking. Despite being a bestselling author, I've never read any of her books and knew that that needed to change. When I noticed that it was in the library I immediately picked it up, as I've been eager to read it for quite some time. This is the first book in the Trylle trilogy, which is a paranormal romance series that follows the life of Wendy Everly. I think that it sounds like a really interesting, gripping book and the plot seems quite detailed, so I have high expectations for this book.

I hope you enjoyed this post and finding out a few of the books that I want to read. I'll definitely be sharing more of them with you over the next few months, so make sure you stay tuned for them. That's all from me and I'll see you on Sunday!

Love from Daisy x
