Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Review

Wednesday, June 17, 2015

Hello! I'm back with another product review today, which might not surprise you as I've been posting them quite often recently. This one, however, is long overdue as it's of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, which I've been using virtually every day for the past few years. I've spoken about it a lot of times on my blog, but never actually reviewed it in a great amount of detail, until now.

This product is a cult classic concealer which pretty much every beauty blogger owns, including myself. I decided to try this one, opposed to a different concealer, as it's affordable at only £4.19 and I'd heard nothing but great things about it. This product, which is sold in Boots and Superdrug, claims to conceal blemishes and dark circles for up to 16 hours.

This concealer comes in four different shades; fair, cool medium, warm medium and dark. Honestly, this isn't the most expansive shade range and it is definitely targeted at paler girls. I'm quite pale and usually use the shade cool medium in winter and warm medium in summer, so you can instantly tell that this product won't be suitable for everyone.

Part of the reason why this product is so cheap is because of the basic, simplistic packaging. It is a transparent tube, showing the colour of the product, with a black lid. This doesn't bother me too much as it's inside that counts and I'd rather have a cheap product with a minimalistic design. I quite like the doe-foot applicator but it probably isn't the most hygienic way of applying concealer, so I don't use it straight onto my problematic areas. One of the problems with the packaging for this product is that the writing quickly wears off, but I've noticed that this has been fixed recently.

This product, like many other liquid concealers, applies really nicely and evenly across the skin. It has a smooth texture and easily glides onto the skin. The finish is matte and it's not particularly moisturising, so this might not be one for you if you have dry skin, but it never looks cakey or patchy. It has a light to medium coverage that can definitely be built up but is still easily blendable.

Although I haven't kept my makeup on long enough to test the 16-hour longevity claims, I definitely think that this concealer stays put for ages. I usually set it into place with a powder, but this isn't necessary for a long-lasting coverage. It doesn't crease under my eyes or move on my face like a lot of concealers do, especially as it is a liquid. There are also claims that this product is waterproof, which I have yet to fully test out.

Overall, this concealer is one of my favourites and is definitely worth purchasing, especially for its good quality and high coverage. It lives up to the hype and I understand why so many people are in love with it, including myself. I'd happily repurchase this product, having done a number of times already, and would definitely urge you to try it if you haven't already.

Thank you for reading this post and I hope you enjoyed it. If you've tried the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, I'd love to hear your thoughts down in the comments. I'll be back on Sunday with a new post, so I'll see you soon!

  1. it's a staple in my collection. I used to use it every day but after a while I found it could be a bit drying, I know only use it when I need a really high coverage.

I don't really like the packaging because the lettering always comes off and makes a mess of my make up bag!

    1. I agree, I definitely use it a lot, but it's better when my skin isn't as dry. And the packaging is a real pain, but I haven't found this to happen with newer tubes of the product.
