Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Varnish Review

Wednesday, May 06, 2015

I often review various makeup items here on my blog, but never have I told you about a nail varnish that I've tried. In all honesty, I don't usually wear them as my school doesn't allow it, but I decided to have my nails painted over Easter and settled on this beautiful one by Barry M. I'd heard many people rave about this line, saying how the colours were great and that they had an amazing formulation, so I knew I needed to try it. I had mixed opinions on this product, so I thought I'd share them with you.
Barry M are well known for their amazing drugstore nail varnishes that are low in price but are of a great quality. So many people recommend them, so I was surprised when I realised that I hadn't tried one before. I went for the shade 'Eat My Dust', which I've heard quite a few people talk about, such as Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup. It appears to be a gorgeous pastel cornflower blue that has a hint of lilac in it, which I think is lovely and definitely stands out on the nails. I love this colour and there are many others in the range that I think are perfect for spring.

After applying the first coat of this nail varnish, quite a sheer amount of colour is distributed on the nails and it definitely needs building up. Barry M claim that this nail varnish only needs two coats, but I found that it can still be a bit patchy and not at its full potential. After three coats, I was left with an opaque layer of colour on my nails that was really bold and eye-catching.

One of the things I love about this nail varnish is that it dries really quickly. I wouldn't normally be pleased about having to apply three coats, but this wasn't a huge issue with this product. By the time you've painted all of your nails, the one that you started with is dry and ready for the next layer, which is great as this reduces the amount of time you have to wait between coats.

So far so good, right? My main problem with this nail varnish occurred about 24 hours after I applied it. I looked at my nails and noticed that one was missing, which was peculiar. I thought nothing off it, but about 15 minutes later, I witnessed the nail varnish peel off a different nail, much like a sticker. This was really disappointing, especially as I'd heard so many good reviews of these nail varnishes. The rest came off within the next few days, which was a shame as I really hoped that this nail varnish would live up to my expectations.

Overall, I love the colour of this nail varnish and think it's great how it dries really quickly, but I probably won't be using it again due to the fact that they peeled off of my nails not long after application. This was a shame and it has definitely put me off Barry M nail varnishes a bit. I know a few people who said that the same thing happened to them, but there are also people who love this nail varnish and have no issues with it, so it's up to you whether you want to take the risk.

Thanks for reading and I hope you like this post. If there are any particular products that you'd like to see me review then make sure you let me know as I'd be more than happy to write one for you. Thanks for reading and I'll be back on Sunday with a new post, so I'll see you then!

Love from Daisy x
