Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Review

Sunday, January 11, 2015

This palette, a cult classic in the beauty community, is one that I've been wanting to try out for a long time now. When I received this for Christmas, I was thrilled and couldn't wait to start using it. After experimenting with it for a few weeks, I thought it was about time to share my thoughts and opinions with you guys, in the form of a product review. I hope you like it!

The Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay comes in a rose gold metal case with ripples indented in the surface, which straight away shows that it is expensive and classy. It is sturdy, slim and snaps shut, protecting its contents. It also has a huge mirror, which makes this eyeshadow palette suitable for travelling.

The 12 eyeshadows are accompanied with a duel ended brush that is of a great quality. Both sides are smooth, fluffy and just the right size to fit your eye. Samples of 4 different Primer Potions are also included, which are said to contain a weeks worth of product. However, I have yet to try any of these out, so I don't know whether this is true or not.

All of the shadows in this palette are neutrals with rose-hues. There is a range of mattes, shimmery shades and even a few glittery shadows, which makes the palette more versatile and wearable for both day and nighttime looks. I really like how each eyeshadow can be applied effortlessly and is easily built up to create a harsher look.

In the palette, there are three matte shades, all of which are extremely useful and necessary in most eye looks. They all have insane pigmentation, great blendability and the colours are versatile. There are four shades which contain micro-glitter, which are great for adding interest to your eyes and perfect for evening looks. Although there is some fallout, this is forgotten about when you see how beautiful the shadows are. The rest of the palette consists of shimmery shades, which are gorgeous and what makes this palette so beautiful. They all have a smooth, buttery texture and are in a variety of different colours, ranging from light to dark.

Strange - a light, peachy white that can be used to highlight the brow bone and inner eye. Despite being such a light colour, it is really pigmented and creamy.
Dust - a pale pink eyeshadow with iridescent micro-glitter. The texture is quite powdery but once it is on the lid it looks beautiful, especially over the top of other eyeshadows.
Burnout - a rosy, pink satin that has to be my favourite eyeshadow from the palette. It has a smooth texture, can easily be applied and looks gorgeous on the lid, especially complimenting blue and green eyes.
Limit - a neutral, dusty rose. This is a great transition shade and can also be used to warm up the outer eye and crease.
Buzz - a warm coppered rose colour that is darker than dust. This has a soft, buttery texture and a beautiful eyeshadow to wear either on its own or alongside other eyeshadows.
Trick - a shimmery copper eyeshadow with gold micro-glitter. This is similar in texture and application to buzz. This is quite versatile, as it would look nice with any of these eyeshadows or paired with more neutral browns and taupes.
Nooner - a medium rosy plum colour. This is the perfect crease colour from the collection and it is pigmented and blendable. This is another one of my favourites.
Liar - a medium brown shimmery eyeshadow that has warm undertones and a metallic finish. Although it is a bit powdery, it is very pigmented and perfect for those people who adore brown eyeshadows.
Factory - a dark brown with warm undertones and a pearled finish. This is similar in appearance to liar and is very shimmery. I think this would look beautiful in the outer corners and would draw attention to your eye colour.
Mugshot - a silvery taupe with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It has excellent colour payoff and could either be worn in the outer corners of the eye or on its own for a beautiful outcome.
Darkside - a dark purpled taupe that is cool-toned and has a pearled finish. It has a soft texture and can easily be blended. This eyeshadow would look especially gorgeous in a smokey eye.
Blackheart - a deep burgundy, which almost looks black, with bright red micro-glitter. This is a beautiful eyeshadow but it's one that is out of my comfort zone.

Overall, I absolutely love this palette and it's one that I'll definitely be using a lot. All of the eyeshadows are beautiful and I'm looking forward to creating various different looks with them. I hope you liked this post and make sure you let me know down in the comments if you'd like any more product reviews in the future. Have a nice day and I'll see you on Wednesday!

  1. I really like how you worded this review. I thought it was quite professional so well done to that! I want to get all three palettes. I started with the naked 2. Which would you recommend next, 1 or 3? I love the 3 but it looks like you can do loads of similar looks rather than loads of different looks.

    1. Thank you very much, I guess my hard work was worth it then! I haven't tried Naked 1 or 2, but I do know that they're really nice. If you really like 2 and it suits you, I'd recommend getting one as some of the colours are similar, but one also has a bit more variety so you can try out other shadows and there are probably a larger amount of different looks you can make. I would, however, recommend getting three. Even if it's out of your comfort zone, it's a beautiful palette that will compliment all eye colours. Hope I helped! x
